The Alaska Design Forum is pleased to present COMMON SPACE. Through this project, we will be exploring the ideas of shared space and community engagement – and we invite you to participate. This dialogue will be shaped through four components:
Design Labs in five Alaskan cities, with a nationally-recognized artist/designer working in each location.
A Statewide Design Challenge, open to all Alaskans. Cultivate an idea to improve common space in your own community! The pre-registration deadline is March 1, 2011.
A Symposium in Anchorage, which will include presentations from both the five Design Labs artists and the Statewide Design Challenge entrants, as well as break-out sessions to explore ideas for the use of communal space.
An exhibition at the International Gallery of Contemporary Art.
