This is part one of the two-part catalogue produced to accompany the 8th Sharjah Biennial. The Theme of the 8th Sharjah Biennial emerged from a need to re-negotiate and re-locate the issues of both art and ecology to a touchable realm, almost to appropriate both by bringing them together.
This Biennial aspired to aggravate a common questioning; where everyone simultaneously will have the chance to at least think difference, if not will it. As pondering is located in this void between action and surrender, it trembles in that space where one does not have to act, but also where one takes action to no limit.
This publication features essays by Sharjah Art Foundation President HH Sheikha Hoor Al Qasimi, Director Jack Persekian and Sharjah Biennial 8 curators Mohammad Kazem, Eva Scharrer and Jonathan Watkins. Participating artists are represented with biographies and images of their work.
